Four-year-old Ulysses filly Atlantic City was sourced from Ireland. She is to be trained by Warwickshire-based Olly Murphy, who sits second in the British NH Trainers’ Championship following an electric start to the 2025/26 season, and is likely to be ridden by reigning champion jockey Sean Bowen.

A near-relation of the Gr.1 Prix Morny winner Pretty Pollyana and from the extended family of Gr.1 Oaks heroine User Friendly, Atlantic City took fourth in a 1m1½f maiden at Gowran on her racecourse debut in October 2024 and has since developed into a promising young hurdler.

She finished third in a 2m maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse in February and then filled the same position at Limerick behind a filly that went on to run in Gr.2 company. She has also finished third at Ballinrobe and Roscommon, over 2m4f and in blinkers on the more recent occasion, and it is worth noting that all of these races have produced subsequent winners.

The Irish handicapper has allotted Atlantic City an official rating of 102, which looks particularly lenient when you consider she finished placed behind James Harbour, rated 116, and Walks The Talk, who earned a Racing Post Rating of 120 when hacking up at Kelso recently.

Atlantic City remains untried in handicaps, retains huge scope for further improvement after just six starts over hurdles, and now joins a trainer with a proven track record of improving horses recruited from other yards. She seems sure to be well-handicapped when racing in Britain and is a horse that we fully expect to enter the winner’s enclosure soon.
